Faltan pocos dias para comenzar ya los entrenamientos oficiales antes de la pretemporada y aún hay muchos corredores que siguen de agente libres, esto sorprende a muchos expertos, sobre todo por el hecho de que aun hay equipos como Chicago y Detroit que podrían necesitar alguno de estos en su equipo, todavía no se sabe si es que no han firmado con ningún equipo porque no ha llegado la oferta adecuada, o porque simplemente ni han llegado ofertas. Muchos expertos dicen que para que estos jugadores logren un contrato grande, primero tendrán que aprender a ceder como lo hizo Jamal Lewis la temporada pasada firmando un contrato de un año con un salario bajo, confiando totalmente en si mismo y después de comprobar que todavía tiene tanque en el gas, le dieron un contrato nuevo con mucho mejores términos.

A continuación un listado de los seis que quedan aún que pudieran ser de buen uso en un equipo y las estadísticas que sacaron el año pasado con sus respectivos equipos:

1. Shaun Alexander: Las especulaciones dicen que ya no es le mismo de antes por el simple hecho de que le cambiaron la linea, y esto es altamente probable, ya que despues de que Steve Hutchinson dejó el equipo para unirse a los vikingos, la produccion de Alexander bajó increíblemente y solo siguió bajando con el tiempo.

2. Kevin Jones: Muchos lo consideran el mejor disponible, ya sea por su experiencia que tiene con los Lions siendo el corredor #1 o simplemente por su habilidad como corredor, creo que deberia de haber firmado con algún equipo ya que es un jugador con mucho potencial y creo que no lo ha hecho por sus fallas en los examenes medicos, ya que es muy propenso a lesionarse.

3. Travis Henry: A muchos nos sorprendió cuando los Broncos decidieron cortar a Henry de su equipo para quedarse con el corredor de segundo año Selvin Young como numero uno. De acuerdo a algunos amigos y gente cercana a Henry, ha sido díficil localizarlo y no se sabe bien en donde se encuentra al momento.

4. Cedric Benson: El corredor #1 de los Chicago Bears, quien recibió este honor cuando Thomas Jones decidió irse con los Jets hace 2 temporadas, ha causado demasiada polémica en estos dias, ya que fue arrestado dos veces en menos de un mes y en las dos lo involucraban a el manejando un vehiculo de algun tipo (auto, lancha) alcholizado. Ahora los equipos no quieren arriesgar en agarrar a este talentoso corredor que alguna vez fue estrella de los longhorns en Texas. Habrá que esperar a ver si alguien le da una oportunidad...

5. LaMont Jordan *: a Jordan aún no lo sueltan en Oakland y ya lo incluimos en esta lista, simplemente por el hecho de que ahorita los corredores no están consiguiendo trabajo, no vemos porque el puede ser mejor que los que estan libres. Aunque la temporada pasada empezó muy bien, las lesiones bajaron su rendimiento y ahora los Raiders lo soltarán para confiar todos los acarreos en Justin Fargas con apoyo de varios corredores Jovenes, incluyendo al futuro novato del año Darren McFadden.

6. Ron Dayne: paso a ser uno de los incontables corredores que han pasado por los Texanos en los ultimos años (Ahman Green, Samkon Gado, Chris Brown, Domanick Davis, Vernard Morency, Wali Lundy, etc.) y este grande corredor, que por poco y podría ser un fullback se encuentra desempleado, sin embargo, creo que podría ser un jugador interesante al estilo T.J. Duckett quien fluctúa entre RB y FB.

* Esta esperando a que lo suelte su equipo (Oakland Raiders)

It has already been said that 8 teams have shown interest in injury prone former Cleveland Brown and New Orleans Saint center LeCharles Bentley, who asked for his release and got it last week. He is trying to make it back after being one of the promising centers coming out of the 2002 draft, and missing the two last seasons due to injuries. 

The Jaguars finalized a deal on Monday with David Garrard who was entering the last year of his contract. Garrard, 30, signed a deal worth almost 60 million for 7 years, making him the best paid QB in Jaguars history, which is not much, but its already been almost 15 years... With this signing the Jags are also guaranteeing that they will have a good QB for years to come...

An interesting move doing 7 years, in my opinion, I mean, he had one good year, I wouldve waited and see how well he plays this one, or at least sign him maybe for 5 years...

With not much news going around the nfl right now, one of the hottest topics on everyones mind is the future of star CB Pacman Jones, the following is an extract from an Espn article regarding his situation, you can click on the quote or the pic to go to the complete article:

As of this moment, Pacman Jones is not allowed to play in the NFL. He also might be the most talented player remaining as free agency dwindles into the stage where role players are all that's left.

After 11 Years of drafting him in 1997, Warrick Dunn has returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers... We just got word that he signed a 2 year contract worth around 6 million...

A good signing for both of them, maybe he is going back to Tampa to retire where he started, Im sure the fans will be happy about this one...

There’s has been a lot of movement and big contracts in the NFL this off-season, but let’s see which teams have done the best job in free agency this year.

WINNERS

Cleveland Brows: They signed defensive tackles Shaun Rogers from Detroit and Corey Williams from Green Bay, this should help a lot to their defense. They signed WR Donte’ Stallworth from New England, re-signed QB Derek Anderson and RB Jamal Lewis and with WR Braylon Edwards in the line-up the Browns should have a very prominent offense.

Minnesota Vikings: They signed safety Madieu Williams to help the defense. Signed WR Bernard Berrian from Chicago and FB Thomas Tapeh, to open lanes for RB Adrian Peterson next season, and Berrian should be a deep treat to those teams focusing on stopping the run.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Signed WR Jerry Porter from Raiders and WR Troy Williamson from Minnesota… to help the receiving corps. They added backup QB Cleo Lemon from Miami. At defense they signed CB Drayton Florence to help the secondary.

LOSERS

Chicago Bears: This is where I don’t understand the Bears… the re-signed QB Rex Grossman, a quarterback that has proven to be a mediocre passer and also they release WR Muhsin Muhammad and lost WR Bernard Berrian to the Vikings. They loose RB Michael Turner from San Diego to Atlanta… their only hope to help the much needed offense.

New York Giants: They loose valuable pieces from their defense, safety Gibril Wilson went to the Raiders, LB Reggie Torbor to Miami and LB Kawika Mitchell to the Bills. Also they might loose their defensive leader DE Michael Strahan if he chooses to retire.
