As of midnight today, free agency has started, be sure to keep visiting to watch recent news and wild signings from the FA period...

FA ALERT: Jevon Kearse, the veteran DE has been cut from the philadelphia eagles, while the rumors are high that they are finishing a good deal with Asante Samuel.

WALKER'S FUTURE

We just got word that Javon Walker, who is on the trade block in denver, could be cut if the broncos dont get any good offers... this is quite a shocker and I would really love walker on the Jaguars way better than Troy Williamson.

New Expansion Teams

I Just saw a fun forum on the net where people were saying, if you were to open an NFL expansion team, which city would you put it in and what name would you choose. The idea actually came from a dude playing madden and wanting new ideas for his imaginary team.
You could use existing teams and change their names or you could just come up with new ones, the fun part about it was that the name should have sense with some of the city's history. Some were funny, some were interesting, some were cool, some were a little offensive for my taste, but an interesting idea however...

Here are some examples I found:

- Miami Vice
- Oregon Wave
- Portland Prowlers
- Hawaii Waves
- Alaska Polar Bears
- Los Angeles Skyscrapers

Some of the could be offensive ones:
- Las Vegas Hookers
- Oklahoma City Bombers
- New York Flying Jets
- New Orleans Hurricanes

If I had word on a new expansion team I would really love it if it was outside the US, I know its the NATIONAL Football League... but its fun to think about it... maybe the London Royalty or the Mexico Aztecs or something like that...

Id love to hear some comments

Draft Day Hats

The NFL is really good at the marketing business, and it has already released the 2008 Draft Day Hats, now, I dont know how they do it, but every year, every new hat, whether its a draft day hat or a sideline cap, or even pro bowl hats, they are all cool... since I can remember, they have always being really good making cool designs for the teams... here are the pics of the 2008 hats, and the 2007 hats so you can compare them... I personally think the new ones are way better...

but tell us what you think... btw you can click on the link to go to the NFLSHOP

Madden Curse 09

Don't worry Giants fans it's just a rumor right now, but if it were to happen it would be bad news for the team, I dont really believe in curses, but with the streak that the madden covers have had, I'm starting to believe now...

The other candidates I've heard are LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, and Sean Taylor, IMO it should be the late Sean Taylor, maybe this way they can break the curse, plus of course... he deserves it.

First Zach Thomas, now Derek Smith... The big names are coming down... the 49ers recently cut their long time defensive leader from the team, but they do have a really good replacement for him... ever heard of anyone named Patrick Willis, yes the defensive rookie of the year is ready to replace this old veteran, while Smith, could land a job in the Patriots maybe.. hahaha, all vets go to the pats...

Everybody knows that rushing the passer is a must in the NFL today, but the New York Giants have showed us what can happen when you make it a top priority.

Not only they finish strong during the regular season and made an spectacular run in the playoffs, (they did finish the 2007 season with 32 sacks and 7 forced fumbles from defensive ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora and backup Justin Tuck), they showed us how to make a perfect QB like Tom Brady appear like a regular passer during Super Bowl XLII in Arizona, with 5 sacks and a fumble only in the first half.

The key to the Giants very effective pass-rushing is that they have two speedy and athletic defensive ends in Strahan and Umenyiora, and sometimes they put Tuck in the middle and just let them do their job.

We just have to see if other teams around the league follow in the steps of the Giants, stoking in their defenses 2 or 3 speedy defensive ends to make the pass-rushing a top priority… instead of stopping the run.

12 Great Seasons

On February 14th, after 12 seasons on the roster, Zach Thomas was cut off the Miami Dolphins, Thomas, has the record for having 10 years being the leader in tackles of the team and is a 7 times Pro Bowl selection, without a doubt, this 34 yr old would be a great fit on some team...

The rumors right now are thAat Saints and the Cowboys are really fighting to get him... I personally could really see him going to the Patriots, they love veteran LBs with talent...

19-0 Patriots

Ever wondered what happened to all the gear from the losers of a Super Bowl match. Because the game is over, and a minute later they already have champion hats on. Sometimes even before the game finishes.

Well the Patriots were 19-0 in Nicaragua apparently, where World Vision, a humanitarian organization donated all the hats and shirts that had already been made for the unbeaten patriots. If only someone over there would put them on Ebay, he would get good money for it...

Here are some pictures of the people from the communities of San Gregorio and Buena Vista... all jokes aside, its good to know that they went to a noble cause.

#7... Atlanta's Jinx

We just got word that the Atlanta Falcons just cut 7 players off the team... funny #7 was Michael Vick's Number... a weird coincidence I should say...

The predictions for now are Alge Crumpler will land in the Seahawks... which I think Hasselbeck would love. And Leftwich as a backup to Tarvaris Jackson in Minnesota.

I have to say, as a Jaguar fan, I never liked Leftwich on our team since day one. When he couldnt even last two years on the falcons, we see he is not that good of a player like we were promised, I mean, the Falcons had Harrington and Leftwich and they remained with Harrington... WOW.

Xenith Helmets

There is a new proposal in the NFL to better protect football players, there is always concern with the injuries around the league, and they are always trying to get new Technology to assure te safety of their players and the protection of their investments.

The new football helmet has been designed to better protect athletes from concussions. The helmet is lined with a thermoplastic material that can adapt to the force of impact. On a routine hit to the head, the discs cushion the head, while following a harder, more forceful blow, the material remains stiff and prevents the sudden jarring of the head that causes concussions.

While it is not as good looking as a cool Revolution Helmet it is much safer for the players. A big problem in the league are the CONCUSSIONS...

To address this need, Xenith has embedded 18 shock absorbers into a flexible cap that lines the inside of a helmet. The shock absorbers are made out of a plastic that is elastic and flexible, thus it can accept a wide range of forces and return to its original shape instantaneously. The shock absorbers are hollow discs featuring a tiny hole to allow air to flow in and out. Upon impact, the walls of the discs collapse to absorb and dissipate the energy.

Below: an inside lining of the new Xenith Helmet.

Spygate

Its been a really weird season for the Undefeated Patriots, because on the first game against the Jets, some people found out they were CHEATING! the organization apologized for the act, and since then the team played almost perfect football... In my opinion it was a way of answering back to the people that was accusing them of cheaters, and tell them WE ARE THE REAL DEAL. They showed us that by having an incredible record breaking season...

The sad thing about it is that a lot of people will always have the doubt, to ask themselves if they won the other three super bowls fair and square. I mean I know its the worst you can do to think of someone cheating in the NFL, but we cannot rule it out... I think it will be a great debated subject in the league for years to come. I personally dont think its fair to start questioning all the legacy of Brady and Bellichick, but I guess its something they gotta do. The Philadelphia Eagles Blog has some interesting ideas surrounding this case, you can check them out by clicking HERE or on any of the pictures on the post.

Anyways, Im also posting some funny pics I found around the web of the Spygate Case...

Ocho cinco piel roja?

"The Washington Post on Tuesday that Redskins owner Dan Snyder is interested in adding Johnson as the latest high-priced addition to his franchise. The teams had no comment, and Rosenhaus told USA TODAY last week that he approached the Bengals about a trade and would work "behind the scenes" to pursue it."

An interesting rumor that is quickly becoming the biggest talk around the league, however Marvin Lewis, the coach of the bengals, announced yesterday, that there was no interesting in trading or letting go of chad johnson this next season...

Ocho cinco meanwhile has had different plans, he has spent a lot of time talking bad about teammates, coaches and administrative staff in general...

Some say he wants to return to Miami where he studied High School and has his whole family, If not Miami, then you can go somewhere closer Chad... perhaps Jacksonville!....... we wish...

So this wont happen redskins fans... at least not yet:

The Three Amigos

In Mexico, football is not that big, but In Monterrey where we live, is the second most watched sport, after soccer, of course. We are three friends from some time now, who share this passion of football or as we call it over here, 'futbol americano'. Since there are many fans in our city we decided to create this blog to bring all of them news from around the league and help them with their fantasy teams, we hope you enjoy our blog. By the way, most of the articles will be in english, just because its easier when we talk about football.

There are three main participants in the writing, editing, formatting and pretty much everything thats related to this blog. Almost everything I learnt about football I did from these guys, they are somehow my mentors and know much more about the past of football, than me, I am still learning, so in a way you could say they are my teachers.

Here are their screen names, and the team that they root for:

The Guru (Raiders)

The Mentor(49ers)

and myself The Rookie (Jaguars)

Together we hope to bring you the best inside analysis, news and just some help for all you fantasy players out there.
