The Super Bowl Shuffle

Back in 1985 the Chicago Bears prior to the Super Bowl number 20, decided to record a rap song, this song was infamously known as The 'super bowl shuffle' in the super bowl the Bears defeated the Patriots 46-10.

The idea for the song came from Record Producer Randy Weigand, who was good friends with Willie Gault, he got this idea after seeing the song called 'the Kingfish shuffle' on a famous sitcom at the time, after this, he thought the Bears singing would make a really good marketing strategy, and he was right.

An extract of the song reads something like this: "So bring on Atlanta, bring on Dallas, this is for Mike and Papa Bear Halas", this referring of course to their former legendary coach Mike Ditka as well as Halas, referring to George Halas.

The performers in the song included Walter Payton 'Sweetness', 'Punky QB' Jim McMahon, and 'Samurai' Mike Singletary, among many others, besides the singers, some were part of the shufflin crew band and some were part of the shufflin crew chorus. The song amazingly reached #41 on the billboard charts and #75 on the R&B/Hip Hop lists.

Throughout the years this has been material for numerous parodies, including a great one from Saturday Night Live where Tom Brady plays McMahons part...

Id like to see another team give this a try...
