The 1-2 punch: a growing trend

Teams around the league have been increasing on this technique more and more over the years, its been recently called the 1-2 punch as referring to the boxing expression, where they hit you hard and then they come back and hit you harder.

Teams with this philosophy have been able to become the top running teams on the league, and therefore the most effective scoring and winning games.

On this list I rank the top 5 1-2 punch running back tandems on the NFL and I will also post 5 tandems to watch out for this next season:

The top 5 are:
1. Vikings: Adrian Peterson & Chester Taylor
2. Jaguars: Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew

3. Giants: Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw

4. Redskins: Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts

5. Saints: Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush

The 5 upcoming threats:
1. Cowboys: Marion Barber and Felix Jones
2. Panthers: DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart

3. Steelers: Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall

4. Falcons: Jerious Norwood and Michael Turner

5. 49ers: Frank Gore and DeShaun Foster

there are some others that might be worth mentioning, but we still have to wait and see how this season pans out, to see who else will break out as a dangerous 1-2 punch...
